We’re seeking a warm, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual to join our award-winning team as Sous Chef at Derby Heights Care Home in Littleover.


About The Role

As Sous Chef at Derby Heights Care Home, you will:

  • Support the Head Chef in leading a culinary team to provide nutritionally balanced, high-quality meals aligned with residents’ needs.
  • Work within budget to ensure excellent standards while contributing to the overall well-being of residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare modified diets that are appealing, well-balanced, and compliant with IDDSI guidance.
  • Supervise and direct culinary staff, providing instruction and training on basic food preparation techniques.
  • Ensure genuine food safety—uphold strict hygiene standards in all kitchen operations.
  • Support the team in understanding and adhering to Avery’s Food Safety Management System.

About You

Ideal Candidate Requirements

  • A relevant catering qualification, such as:
    • City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2
    • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent catering certification
  • At least 1 year of catering experience in a similar role.
  • Strong compersion and dedication to delivering high-quality food services to residents.
  • Ability to adapt quickly, cover varied responsibilities, and stay flexible with workplace demands.
