About the Role

The Sous Chef plays a pivotal role in helping the Head Chef lead a dynamic culinary team that delivers a nutritionally balanced and diverse culinary programme. Your work must uphold the highest standards of quality, meet budgetary targets, and enhance the overall well-being of residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership support to the head chef in developing and maintaining a consistent, balanced, and varied menu in line with dietary plans, IDDSI guidelines, and residents’ preferences.
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of modified diets, ensuring they are nutritionally appropriate, visually appealing, and individually tailored.
  • Supervise, train, and guide culinary staff—including coaching junior colleagues in safe, hygienic food preparation techniques.
  • Maintain strict adherence to Avery’s Food Safety Management System and uphold highest hygiene standards in line with national health and safety regulations, including awareness of HACCP and cross-contamination risks.
  • Be adaptable to shifting priorities, including covering shifts and performing additional duties as required to support efficient kitchen operations.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
