Nurse Manager, Citywide Community and Specialist Nursing Teams Band 8A
Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, motivated, and visible nursing leader to join Aberdeen City Health & Social Care Partnership as a Nurse Manager within our Community Nursing Service. This senior role provides clinical, professional, and operational leadership to Community and Specialist Nursing Teams, ensuring patients receive excellent quality nursing care across a range of community settings.
Role Responsibilities
As Nurse Manager, you will be responsible for leading and supporting nursing teams across the city, providing strong clinical leadership, operational management, and professional advice. You will work closely with senior nursing colleagues, Team Leaders, partner organisations, and wider health and social care services to support safe, effective, and sustainable community nursing provision.
This is a key leadership role within the senior nursing team. You will contribute to workforce planning, recruitment, staff development, clinical governance, quality assurance, and service improvement. You will also support the implementation of national and local programmes of work, including staffing level tools, the ACHSCP Workforce Plan, and compliance with the Health and Care (Staffing) (Scotland) Act.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a highly experienced registered nurse who can demonstrate strong leadership, sound professional judgement, and the ability to influence, support, and engage others. You will have current NMC registration, relevant post-registration qualification to Master’s degree level, line management experience, and knowledge of workforce planning, staffing level tools, Turas, appraisals, and service redesign.
The successful candidate will be a confident communicator, able to work across professional and organisational boundaries, manage complex and sensitive situations, and support staff through change. You will be expected to act as a professional role model, provide expert nursing advice, represent community nursing services across the organisation, and deputise for senior nursing colleagues when required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
