Contracted Hours: 39
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Chester House, Epsom Ave, Handforth, Cheadle, Greater Manchester, SK9 3DF
Reporting to: Space and Range Manager
Location: Hybrid role with 2 days in our Handforth office each week
Salary: 40-45k
Salary & Benefits: Competitive Basic Salary plus comprehensive benefits offering.
About your role:
This role presents a unique and exciting opportunity to support the improvement of our space optimisation and range analysis within the business. With a focus on improving range efficiency, increasing sales performance and getting it right for stores, this role will require an individual who is comfortable working with large volumes of data and is capable of producing analysis that leads to recommendations.
You will find yourself working in a high-energy, cross-functional environment as you work closely with our buying, supply, merchandising and space planning teams. This role will be a key support to wider functions by translating data and insight into recommendations.
About your responsibilities:
In this role, to achieve the overall above purpose, you will:
- Analyse large data sets to create a range of recommendations
- Identify product distribution opportunities & model commercial benefits associated
- Support the development of ranging models to maximise new or emerging formats
- Determine the effect of demographics on customer purchasing and propose changes to ranging to reflect this
- Carry out analysis of space and development-related projects to provide insight and suggestions on possible improvements
- Contribute to the clustering work by providing supporting analysis
- Create tools & databases to analyse space utilisation & identify ranging opportunities
- Develop reporting that can be used by the merchandising team to drive increased profitability into planogram builds
- Analyse the impact of space and layout initiatives and provide insight of the change and possible improvements
- Build dashboards to support ongoing space & range efficiency management
- Build strong relationships with a variety of cross-functional teams and understand the origin of the data sets whilst supporting future evolvement and manipulation
- Understand who your key stakeholders will be and ensure regular connection
- Support upskilling wider teams on analysis outputs and how they can interpret them

About You - knowledge, skills and experience:
- Ability to analyse complicated data sets to deliver recommendations
- Capability to build tools and dashboards to help interpret data
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Comfortable presenting outcomes to wider stakeholders
- Excellent Excel & Microsoft Office skills
- Competent in using SQL and Microsoft Access
Desirable, but not essential:
- Understanding of space and range level analysis
- Previous experience within an FMCG or retail background would help
- Experience of working with Space Planning software would be advantageous
- High level of competence with spreadsheet and database software packages and the design of relational databases.
- Knowledge of using Power BI & Python would be advantageous
