Job Title: Sales Manager, EnerSys Advanced Systems (EAS)

Job Purpose

The purpose of this Sales Manager role is to identify and develop new business opportunities within the Specialty Global portfolio and support the growth of the EnerSys Space Sales and Business Development function.

The role demands:

  • Close management of customer accounts
  • Proactive lead generation
  • Accurate sales forecasting and reporting
  • Effective management of a growing opportunity pipeline

This is achieved through three core responsibilities:

  • Lead Generation: Leveraging existing networks and industry contacts, promoting key EnerSys Space marketing themes, and securing qualified leads that can evolve into commercial opportunities.
  • Business Development: Cultivating revenue-generating customer relationships—both with new and existing clients—to accelerate returns for the EnerSys Space business.
  • Business Intelligence: Conducting ongoing market and competitor analysis, while providing insights on product positioning to support technical teams in product development and enhancement.

The Sales Manager will expand their established network to drive sustainable growth of the EnerSys Space business in alignment with defined sector and geographic targets.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Customer Engagement & Lead Management

  • Serve as a pre-contract point of contact for EnerSys Space customer inquiries.
  • Develop the Business Development/Business Intelligence function within EnerSys Space.

Opportunity & Pipeline Management

  • Implement and adjudicate an opportunity analysis process for introducing new opportunities to the business.
  • Ensure accountability for using CRM tools and providing accurate sales forecast data, as required by the Head of Business Development.

Collaboration & Networking

  • Engage in frequent travel, meeting customers on-site and delivering post-meeting/event reports.
  • Conduct market and customer base analyses to identify retention and growth strategies.
  • Research business/project drivers across target sectors to uncover opportunities.
  • Build upon an existing network of contacts to bring new opportunities into the business pipeline.

Client Relationship & Strategy

  • Lead and manage client relationships while smoothing transitions into sales teams.
  • Conduct customer satisfaction surveys and ensure timely reporting.
  • Develop external communication and brand promotion programs aligned with EAS objectives.
  • Represent EnerSys Space at key networking events to strengthen visibility.
  • Facilitate target client dinners, fostering relationships between sales/operational teams and potential customers.

Technical & Administrative Support

  • Focus on weekly and monthly operational cycles, enhancing decision-making and customer growth.
  • Administer key IT portals such as ESA STAR and ARRIBA to strengthen collaboration with the CABC Team.

Qualifications & Requirements

Professional Experience

  • Proven experience in a similar role within the space sector.
  • Strong track record in building and maintaining customer relationships.
  • Ability to recognize business opportunities through networking and relationship-building.
  • Proactive, engaging, and consultative in connecting with diverse technical and strategic stakeholders.

Commercial & Negotiation Acumen

  • Exceptional commercial mindsets, negotiation skills, and an orientation towards revenue growth.
  • Commitment to accountability, delivery, and commitment in servicing customers.
