SPAR Huntington Road- Store Manager

Job Title: Store Manager Location: Preston, UK (Head Office & Distribution Centre) Employment Type: Permanent Hours: 39 hours per week

About the Role

As Store Manager, you’ll lead your store with full responsibility for its success, balancing financial performance, customer service, and operational standards. This hands-on, high-impact role demands strong leadership, resilience, and daily role-modelling across all store aspects.


Key Responsibilities

Your weekly duties will encompass (but aren’t limited to):

  • Financial excellence:
    • Controlling costs and driving sales to maximise profitability.
  • Operations & compliance:
    • Upholding high hygiene, health & safety, and security standards.
    • Ensuring compliance with company policies and legislation.
  • Administration & processes:
    • Overseeing store-wide systems and documentation.
  • Team leadership:
    • Mentoring, motivating, and performance-managing colleagues.
    • Projecting professionalism as the foremost role model.
  • Customer experience:
    • Advocating for excellent service daily.

Requirements

The ideal Store Manager will demonstrate: ✅ Essential:

  • Proven management or supervisory experience (preferably within retail/distribution).
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing demands and work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and confident leadership.

✅ Desirable:

  • Experience in financial or operational control within a fast-moving retail environment.
  • Experience implementing health & safety/hygiene practices in a food retail setting.
