This role sits at the heart of that ambition, helping to shape a fast-moving, future-facing sports property with global reach and real impact.
Role Summary
Reporting to the Director of Event Operations and with a regular communication channel to the Managing Director and the Director of Sport and Innovation, the Special Projects Manager will:
- Lead and report on the progress and performance of the Ultimate Sevens Championship (U7S) and its individual events.
- Take ownership of agreed Functional Areas critical to the success of the Championship.

Responsibilities
Project Management & Oversight

Identification, setup, and communication of a consolidated Project Management plan for the Ultimate Sevens Team:
- Achieve buy-in from Functional Area leads.
- Capture all event-related tasks along with timelines.
- Ensure alignment with the Vision, Mission, and Objectives of the Ultimate Sevens Championship.

Creation of an Event-Specific Project Management Plan:
- Collaborate with and share this plan with Event Local Organising Committees.
- Ensure they meet contracted responsibilities on time and to world class standards.

Regular progress reporting:
- Identify risk where required.
- Communicate effectively to keep projects on track.
- Highlight areas needing strategic or operational review/decision.

Post-event reviews with Functional Area leads:
- Develop a clear, concise report template for each event.
- Identify key recommendations to enhance the Championship’s profile and future success.

Functional Area Leadership
-
Leadership of agreed Event Operations-related Functional Areas:
- Hospitality,
- Sports Presentation,
- Media & Broadcast Operations.

Support in the acquisition and delivery of Event Operations-related procurement.
-
General support to the Event Operations Team, as required.
Key Interactions
Internal
- Directors and Heads of Department/Functional Area Leads.
External
- Host cities, venues, and clubs.
- Agencies appointed to deliver contracted services in selected Functional Areas.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in project management.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in operational management.
- Management of multiple cross-functional tasks.
Preferred:
- 3+ years' experience in event management.
- Background in logistics management (desirable).
- Experience in sports event management (desirable).
Languages:
- Fluent in English.
- Other European languages (desirable).
Note: This is a Fixed-Term Contract (FTC) role for 3-4 months.
