About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join the dedicated team at Belford Hospital in Fort William, Lochaber. The successful candidate will contribute to delivering high-quality, multi-disciplinary laboratory services—in Biochemistry, Haematology, Coagulation, Blood Transfusion, and Microbiology—as part of the NHS Highland laboratory network.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate within a highly regulated NMBS (National Manual of Biochemical Standards) and IRLD (Implementation Document) compliant environment.
- Follow written laboratory protocols and procedures accurately.
- Deliver analytical services in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team (doctors, nurses, and healthcare assistants).
- Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- After onboarding training, contribution to an on-call rota (24/7) is required.

Essential Criteria
✔ HCPC Registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist ✔ Recent and relevant experience working in an acute NHS Hospital laboratory
Desired Qualifications
✔ Proven multidisciplinary teamwork experience ✔ Analytical and innovative approach to improving team and lab processes
Tour Details
Fort William offers both a dependent working life and LA 237 pay scale.
