Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated HCPC registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join the Department of Cellular Pathology.
About the Role
The successful candidate must meet the following requirement:
- Hold, or be working towards, completion of the IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Cellular Pathology.
The Specialist Biomedical Scientist will play a critical role in delivering a diagnostic service to clinicians and patients to support diagnosis and treatment, including:
- Conducting scientific work within the laboratory
- Analysing preliminary findings
- Determining follow-up actions where necessary
Candidates who are currently undertaking (but have not yet completed) the IBMS Specialist Diploma may be considered for interview. However, if successful, remuneration will align with Band 6, Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions (Annex 21) until the specialist qualification is fully achieved.
This salary structure varies based on proximity to portfolio completion (partially pre-arranged with annex 21 overall salary resource as follows):

- Up to 12 months prior to completing the Portal: 75% of the top of the band
- Over 1 year but <2 years prior: 70% of the top of the band
- Over 2 years but <3 years prior: 65% of the top of the band
- Over 3 years prior: 60% of the top of the band
