New Post in Histopathology Department

This post presents an exciting opportunity to work closely with the quality and training team. The department has a workload of around 70,000 surgical requests per year and covers a wide range of routine and specialised services.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a committed team of office, laboratory and Consultant Pathologist staff. The department encourages active professional development and further educational activities. The service is expanding Biomedical Scientist advanced dissection and Biomedical Scientist reporting roles. The service is also carrying out digital pathology reporting, and is progressing towards full digital reporting. We also use CEREBRO specimen tracking system. The service is also replacing most of its specialist laboratory equipment this year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation, delivery and maintenance of the quality management system and such quality initiatives as deemed necessary to achieve and maintain compliance with UKAS ISO 15189 accreditation.
  • Provide training in all aspects of technical Histology to; medical staff, other BMS staff, new entrant staff, students, Associate Practitioners and Biomedical Support Workers (BMSW), as necessary.
  • Work autonomously but to set targets without direct supervision, referring to senior staff as necessary.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
