Specialist Clinical/Counselling Psychologist

Highly Specialist Clinical/Counselling Psychologist

OpCourage Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing Service

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join OpCourage, a specialist veterans mental health service, to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing mental health treatment and wellbeing support within a stepped-care model.

This role combines clinical and service development responsibilities, requiring a Highly Specialist Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to deliver:

  • Specialist assessments, formulations, and evidence-based treatment for PTSD and Complex PTSD (C-PTSD)
  • Individual and group therapy across modalities, including:
    • Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
    • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
    • Networks of Existence (NET)
    • Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
  • Supervision and line-management of qualified psychologists, trainee psychologist, assistant psychologists, and CBT therapists
  • Service development, treatment pathway enhancements, research, and service evaluation

  • Managing a high-quality, specialist assessment and treatment service for veterans with PTSD and other mental health difficulties
  • Developing and embedding psychological support across the full stepped-care model
  • Providing evidence-based expert assessments and clinical management, utilising validated tools and protocols
  • Offering clinical supervision using current therapeutic best practices
  • Contributing to service development, professional skills in research and service evaluation, and audit activities

Work Environment

Based predominantly in Portsmouth, with a requirement of at least two working days on site per week, including Fridays. A blended delivery model is used, including:

  • Face-to-face sessions
  • Online/or virtual interventions
  • Flexible homeworking options to support work/life balance
