Job overview
An exciting 12-month fixed-term opportunity has arisen for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join the psychology team within the Woodfield Child Development Service (WCDS).
The primary focus of this post is neurodevelopmental assessment, particularly social communication assessments. Applicants must have experience of completing neurodevelopmental assessments and be ADOS trained, with confidence contributing to MDT diagnostic discussions.
You will work within a well-established multidisciplinary team supporting children and families through the assessment process. In addition to assessment work, there will be opportunities to contribute to pre- and post-diagnostic support and to service development or project work, depending on service needs and interests.
This role would suit a psychologist who values collaborative, reflective, and neuroaffirmative practice. The post offers a supportive team environment with regular supervision throughout the fixed-term contract.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
