Specialist Compliance Officer - Fire Safety
Salary: £47,181 | Level: CFL9

Background
As part of a £250 million improvement programme following a C3 judgement, Swindon Borough Council is strengthening governance, assurance and delivery across all compliance areas - with fire safety a central priority.
Your New Role
As Specialist Compliance Officer - Fire Safety, you will provide specialist technical expertise and day‑to‑day coordination of fire safety compliance activity across housing and corporate properties.
Reporting to the Service Manager or Service Lead, you will support the planning and delivery of fire risk assessments, inspections, servicing and remedial works. You will monitor contractor performance, maintain accurate compliance records and escalate issues where standards are not met, supporting effective assurance and inspection readiness.

You will also provide technical advice to managers and operational colleagues, support service improvement initiatives and help embed a strong culture of safety and compliance. While you may assist across wider compliance services where required, you will retain a clear specialist focus in fire safety as a subject matter expert.
What You'll Need To Succeed
You will have experience delivering or supporting fire safety compliance within a local authority or social housing environment, with strong knowledge of fire safety requirements and health and safety practices.
A recognised fire safety qualification (such as NEBOSH Fire) is essential, and professional membership is desirable. You will bring a methodical, organised approach and confidence handling technical compliance information.
