🟢 Your New Role

The Audio Description Writer is responsible for crafting high-quality English Audio Description (AD) scripts across:

  • Scripted episodic television
  • Unscripted and factual programming
  • Feature-length content
  • Ad hoc accessibility projects

Key Responsibilities

🔷 Operation

  • Write audio description scripts for varied content types, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and adherence to established Audio Description guidelines.
  • Describe essential visual story elements (e.g., performances, set details, special effects) with representative accuracy to enhance narrative comprehension.
  • Meet quality standards in grammar, tone, pacing, and technical delivery.
  • Revise scripts based on editorial feedback before final delivery.
  • Assist with first-pass audio description drafts for complex or feature-length projects under senior supervision as part of professional growth.
  • Manage workloads and deadlines efficiently using internal tracking tools.
  • Handle sensitive, confidential, or pre-release materials securely and ethically.

🔷 Innovation & Development

  • Test, review, and refine tools, templates, and workflows to enhance efficiency.
  • Provide feedback on continuity, usability, and improvement areas.
  • Develop audio description skills via training, mentorship, and peer review.

🔷 Administrative

  • Participate in team meetings, script reviews, and content evaluations.
  • Collaborate with editors and managers on priorities and deadlines.
  • Support documentation, quality checks, or reporting as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in:
    • Audio Description (AD)
    • Accessibility writing
    • Captioning/subtitling with accessibility focus
    • Related media composition, such as script translation or audio post-production
  • Demonstrated skill in delivering final or near-final accessibility products.
  • Exceptional written English, emphasizing:
    • Grammar, tone, and clarity
  • Heightened attention to detail and ability to follow structured style guidelines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks while meeting tight deadline-driven production schedules.
  • Proactive adaptability to new systems, tools, and workflows.

Preferred (But Not Required)

  • Experience in feature-length or theatrical audio description.
  • Accreditation from accessibility training programs or university coursework.

Hybrid Work Model

This role is advertised as hybrid, enabling remote work alongside adhesive office days — though flexible hours are subject to applicable law and manager approval. WBD reserves the right to adjust working arrangements where commercially necessary, with reasonable notice.
