Specialist Equipment Engineer

Specialist Equipment Engineer / Trainer

Current Opening: CRITICAL

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Engineer with a focus on technical training to lead equipment performance and reliability improvements across our SIG filling and downstream packaging equipment in a fast-paced drinks manufacturing environment.

This key engineering role requires expertise in fault diagnosis, equipment optimisation, and training to elevate technical standards and capabilities across engineering and production teams.


About the Role

As the site specialist for SIG and downstream equipment, you will provide advanced technical support while driving knowledge development and best practices within the engineering team. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading complex fault-finding and root cause analysis for specialist machinery.
  • Coaching and training engineers and operators to improve fault-finding skills.
  • Supporting /frontend-line troubleshooting and equipment optimisation.
  • Developing and delivering technical training for engineers, technicians, and operators.
  • Collaborating with OEMs and suppliers to enhance equipment performance.
  • Driving continuous improvement in reliability, efficiency, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Support

  • Act as the site specialist for SIG filling equipment and downstream packaging systems.
  • Lead endroot cause analysis and advanced fault-finding for complex machinery.
  • Provide electrical and mechanical troubleshooting support to engineering teams.
  • Ensure equipment standards, SOPs, and best practices are developed and maintained.

Training & Knowledge Development

  • Lead technical training and train-out activities for engineering and production teams.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, technicians, and operators to improve frontline capabilities.
  • Support commissioning, optimisation, and validation of production lines.

Continuous Improvement & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Identify recurring equipment issues and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Collaborate with OEMs/suppliers on equipment upgrades and technical development.
  • Promote a safety-first and quality-driven culture across all engineering activities.

About You

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in maintaining/technical specialist SIG filling equipment within FMCG, beverage, or dairy manufacturing.
  • Advanced mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills for automated systems, PLCs, drives, pneumatics, and controls.
  • Experience training or mentoring engineering/tech teams.
  • Experience with equipment from Krones, KHS, Tetra Pak, Sidel, or similar OEMs.
  • Engineering qualification (minimum Level 3 or equivalent).
