Specialist Grade Doctor in Geriatric Medicine
The Trust is recruiting a Specialist Grade doctor in Geriatric Medicine to join the established team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), Woolwich. This post is designed for experienced clinicians with at least 12 years of clinical practice, including a minimum of 6 years at middle-grade level or above in Geriatric Medicine. The successful candidate will join a dynamic department currently comprising eight substantive geriatricians, working collaboratively to deliver high-quality, person-centred care for older adults, delivering comprehensive assessments across our service.
The post has been created to support and expand innovative models of care for frail older patients. The Trust operates a dedicated frailty pathway, including an Acute Frailty Unit (AFU) and a Frailty Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) service. These units provide rapid specialist assessment, early therapy involvement, and integrated discharge planning to reduce unnecessary admissions and improve patient flow.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
