Specialist Home Care Assistant
Location: Bournemouth
Pay rate: £13.70 per hour + £2.00 per hour Bank Holiday enhancement rate
Travel: Paid Travel Time £12.71 per hour + 40p per mile mileage allowance
Hours: Full-time, including alternate weekends (days off to include every Thursday and every other weekend)
Shift pattern: 07:00 to 14:00 & 16:00 to 22:00
Care South, a leading not for profit charity, have exciting opportunities for a Specialist Home Care Assistant to join our Bournemouth Care at Home team.
The Specialist Home Care Assistant plays a vital role to motivate and encourage clients’ with a diverse range of social needs and medical conditions in their home, to support with improving their independence.
This role is a mix of community and office based work, it is essential applicants hold a driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
As a Specialist Home Care Assistant with Care South, we ensure you are paid for not just your contact time but also your travel time. On top of this we pay a generous mileage rate of 40p per mile.

What You’ll Be Doing & Why You’ll Love Working with Us
- Completing quality needs assessments, produce relevant documentation, and complete weekly review of outcomes.
- Assessing clients tailored reablement plans and risk assessments. Reviewing and updating these on a daily and weekly basis.
- Assist with signposting clients to services which will ensure their continued independence after the reablement programme service has ceased.
- Supporting clients with personal care tasks such as washing, dressing, bathing, shaving, hair washing and oral hygiene and to undertake these tasks themselves where appropriate to maintain their independence.
- Supporting clients with daily living tasks such as domestic cleaning and shopping.
- Assisting clients with meal planning, preparation and cooking.
You will receive a comprehensive induction with;

- Providing high-quality support to enable individuals to remain independent.
- You will support our clients to build confidence and remain independent.

- You will be responsible for the needs of clients and ensuring their dignity.
- You will help with personal care such as personal hygiene, toileting, and dressing.

About you:
- Previous experience in a care setting is desirable but not required.
- You will have a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Flexible in the hours you can work and ability to work every other weekend.
- Strong attention to detail and reporting skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- You will hold an enhanced DBS on the update service or prepared to undertake one.
What You Need To Know
- You must be 18 years or older.
