Potential total package value of $344,062 to $453,341 (Inclusive of additional incentives and allowances) dependent on the level of experience and participation.
Full Time Indicative Base Package Value: $344,062 to $453,341 (Pro Rata part time)
Indicative Base Package inclusive of:
- Base Salary $204,936 to $274,696
- Superannuation (12.5%)
- Private Practice Allowance – Scheme A
- Professional development allowances
- Mobile Phone allowance
- Generous leave provisions, including up to 4 weeks training/education leave and up to 5 weeks annual leave per annum
- Annual Leave Loading 17.5%
Note: Starting base salary will be negotiated within this classification for the successful candidate, depending on experience and expertise.

Position Overview
A permanent part-time position as Staff Specialist in Palliative Care is available at Canberra Hospital (up to 1.2 FTE total across at least two positions). The position provides specialist palliative care across consult care, inpatient care and outpatient clinics, contributes to multidisciplinary care and supports supervision of trainees, junior medical staff and medical students. The appointee will join the Department of Palliative Care within the Canberra Region Cancer Centre and contribute to holistic, person and family-centered care across Canberra Health Services in a dynamic and supportive unit. The opening of the Acute Palliative Care Ward at Canberra Hospital in 2027 and increasing integration of palliative care services across the ACT present opportunities for professional growth and leadership within the role.
The position holder is expected to operate within the Public Sector Management Act (1994), the ACT Public Service Code of Conduct and the professional requirements specified by the appointee’s Specialist College.
The preferred candidate may be considered for a conjoint position in ANU at an academic level commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The academic position will be held for the duration of the Canberra Health Services employment and will be subject to regular performance reviews. No remuneration is attached to the University position. The employee will be responsible to the University on academic matters and to The Canberra Hospital & Health Services / Canberra Health Services for clinical/ research matters.
