Role: Specialist Medical Physics Technician – Permanent

Hours
36.00 hours per week Note: From 1 April 2026, NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will see a reduction in full-time hours from 37 to 36 hours per week, without loss of earnings (prorated for part-time staff).
Essential Requirement
- A UK driving licence is essential for this role.
What You Will Do
As a member of the Clinical Engineering section of the Medical Physics Department, you will:
- Provide specialist support, repair, and maintenance to a range of complex and highly complex medical equipment under the care of the medical physics department.
- Act as a section specialist in one or more categories, types, or models of equipment.
- Support the department by contributing to the training of clinical, nursing, and other technical staff on medical equipment use.

Knowledge, Training & Experience

A degree in an appropriate discipline (or equivalent qualifications) is essential.
- Alternative qualifications with a matching knowledge, training, and experience profile to meet requirements will also be considered.

Registration on the Register for Clinical Technologists (RCT) via the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) is required. This means completing an IPEM-approved training scheme.
- Preference will be given to candidates not yet registered if they can be supported through equivalence pathways.

Desirable: Membership of IPEM (or an equivalent institution) at the relevant level.
