Specialist Mental Health Nurse (Band 6) – South Glasgow CAMHS

The Role

Key Requirements

  • Must be a NMC-registered UK nurse (live NMC PIN required).
  • Will work as an independent practitioner within a Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), taking direct responsibility for patient assessments, care plans, and implementation without constant supervision.
  • Must supervise and mentor nursing staff (registered and unregistered).
  • Line management responsibilities include staff support, competency monitoring, mentorship, and clinical supervision.
  • Core approach: Strength-based recovery, ensuring care is person-centred, holistic, and participative in home/near-home environments.

Permanent Time Commitment

  • Permanent, Part-Time Role (hours/flexibility to be confirmed)
  • Pro-rata salary for part-time.
  • Shift pattern to be agreed.
  • Location: Gorbals Health & Care Centre.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care and Coordination

  • Act as Named Nurse/Named Practitioner for complex patient caseloads, ensuring care coordination where required.
  • Conduct holistic assessments, including risk assessment, treatment planning, and intervention evaluation.
  • Deliver psychological therapies/approaches in line with evidence-based practices (individual/group care).
  • Coordinate health promotion activities supported by mentorship, safeguarding, and safeguarding of vulnerable individuals, including:
    • Children/adults under protection protocols (eg, abuse, self-harm, LGBTQ++ care).
    • Promoting physical and mental well-being while respecting equality and dignity.
  • Ensure clinical compliance with الوطني NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) policies, including:
    • Administration of prescribed medication/treatment and side effect management.
  • Maintain therapeutic relationships with patients/CHΩ and Volume 3 anonymous ratios care vulnerabilities (e.g, domestic violence, displacement, gender disparities).

Clinical and Supervisory Duties

  • Supervision and mentorship of nursing staff, alongside reflective practice sessions for team members.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential Requirements

  • NMC registration (as Registered Nurse or RNLD Level 1).

  • Degree-level education or equivalent qualification.

  • Completed a formal study in evidence-based psychological therapies.

  • Postgraduate studies (or equivalent) in progress.

  • Specialist mental health/expertise in:

    • Wads/domestic ideology/treatment noise leading areas.
    • Risk assessments (theralities/diarii/novice crime).
    • Evidence of clinical supervision.
  • Demonstratable Compliance and Practice Professionalisation (CPD) track.

  • Ability to auto-assess CQC and use remote digital tools/NGHD.Astructor management.

  • Flexibility to meet remote practitioner needs (ITE + mandatory hours).

  • Competence to implement confidence to work unsupervised supporting fragile, individual life transitions.

Desirable Skills

  • Mentorship qualification or evidence of junior career progression.
  • Level 6 “Senior Practitioner” within the NHS Graduate/MWN Programme
    • Skill across four sattitors:
      • Clinical practice
      • Facilitating learning.
      • Leaded advancement.
      • Research development.
    • Capability in Home care operations management and care coordination.
