Role Description

The Specialist Note Taker is a part-time, on-site role based in Manchester. In this role, the Specialist Note Taker will attend lectures, seminars, and tutorials to produce clear, accurate, and structured notes for students who require support. Daily tasks include:

The Specialist Note Taker will maintain confidentiality, follow university and Senclude guidelines, and communicate with students and staff to ensure notes are appropriate and accessible. The role may also involve:

  • Coordinating schedules
  • Managing workload across multiple modules
  • Providing feedback to Senclude on student support needs

Qualifications

  • Strong written communication skills, including accurate spelling, grammar, and the ability to summarize complex information clearly.
  • Excellent listening and concentration skills, with the ability to capture key points during fast-paced lectures and discussions.
  • Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple classes, meet deadlines, and maintain consistent note quality.
  • Comfort working on-site in university environments in Manchester and collaborating professionally with students and academic staff.
  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, DSA NMH guidelines and inclusive practices for supporting disabled students.
  • Proficiency with digital tools for note taking (e.g., word processing software, secure file sharing platforms).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection standards.
  • Previous experience in education support, tutoring, or note taking is beneficial.
  • Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience that demonstrates strong academic and communication abilities.
