Band 6 Occupational Therapist – Stroke Rehabilitation Unit
Location: Abingdon Community Hospital, Oxfordshire
Join our award-winning multi-disciplinary team at the Oxfordshire Stroke Rehabilitation Unit, where we're dedicated to enhancing patients' quality of life, health, and independence after stroke. We’re seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist (Band 6) passionate about person-centred rehabilitation, delivering impactful interventions to support recovery and help patients return home safely.
About the Role
This is a full-time opportunity for an Occupational Therapist who wishes to specialise in stroke rehabilitation in an inpatient physical rehabilitation setting. You’ll work alongside a supportive, skilled team in a progressive and innovative service focused on continuous improvement.
As the Band 6 Occupational Therapist, you will:
- Assess patients’ needs through physical, cognitive, and functional evaluations
- Deliver targeted interventions to improve daily living skills, independence, and well-being
- Communicate findings effectively with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and families, as well as external partners (e.g. social care & specialist services)
- Prescribe and assess appropriate equipment and evaluate home environments to support safe discharge
- Facilitate and lead family meetings, ensuring adherence to clinical governance and safety standards
- Contribute to service development and explore new ways to enhance rehabilitation outcomes

The ideal candidate will have:
- Direct experience in stroke rehabilitation, ideally within an inpatient setting
- Strong clinician skills, including assessments and intervention planning
- Exceptional communication, able to engage with patients, families, and colleagues
- A collaborative approach, ensuring smooth Liaison with MDT, social care, and external teams
- An ability to shall safeguarding and reflective practice in therapy provision
