An Exciting Opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Forth Valley Neuro Rehabilitation Team (NRT).

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a well-established, specialist multidisciplinary team supporting individuals with acquired and progressive neurological conditions. The service provides neuro-specialist assessment and rehabilitation to support individuals to maximise independence, participation, and quality of life.

About The Service

The Forth Valley Neuro Rehabilitation Team is a specialist community-based service supporting people with complex neurological conditions, including those with:

  • Acquired brain injury
  • Progressive neurological conditions (e.g. MS, MND)
  • Complex physical, cognitive, and perceptual impairments

The Team Delivers

  • Specialist neurological assessment and rehabilitation
  • In-reach and out-reach support to partner services
  • Neuro-palliative rehabilitation
  • Complex posture and tone management in collaboration with MDT colleagues

You will work as part of a skilled and supportive MDT including Physiotherapists, Speech & Language Therapists, Assistant Practitioners, and administrative staff.

The Role

As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, You Will

  • Deliver specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention for individuals with neurological conditions
  • Manage a complex caseload, including cognitive, perceptual, and functional rehabilitation
  • Work collaboratively within the MDT to deliver goal-focused, person-centred care
  • Support individuals to optimise independence in daily activities, roles, and community participation
  • Contribute to discharge planning, risk assessment, and equipment provision
  • Provide education, support, and advice to patients, families, and carers
  • Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement activities
  • Support and supervise junior staff, students, and support workers

  • A HCPC registered Occupational Therapist
  • Able to demonstrate experience working with neurological conditions (Band 5 or above)
  • Skilled in functional, cognitive, and perceptual assessment and intervention
  • Confident working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Committed to person-centred care and continuous improvement
  • An effective communicator with strong organisational skills

Desirable

  • Experience in community or neuro-rehabilitation settings
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and environmental adaptations
  • Experience of supervising staff or students

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
