Specialist Occupational Therapist
Band 6 Acute Medical Occupational Therapist – Glan Clwyd Hospital (Permanent, 37.5 hrs/week)
About the Role
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated, and forward-thinking Band 6 Acute Medical Occupational Therapist to join the Central Area Occupational Therapy Team at Glan Clwyd Hospital, working within the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) in North Wales.
The Opportunity
This permanent, full-time role (37.5 hours per week) offers the chance to work within a large, supportive, and well-established team, committed to developing the future workforce, including newly qualified Occupational Therapists (OTs) as they transition into clinical practice.
The position provides the opportunity to:
- Contribute to a progressive, acute medical service with a focus on timely, high-quality assessments.
- Support effective patient flow and discharge planning under a Discharge to Recover Then Assess (D2RA) model, aligning with the Six Goals for Urgent and Emergency Care.
- Adopt a strengths-based, person-centred approach, ensuring assessments are conducted in the right place at the right time to optimise independence and recovery.

Primary Responsibilities
You will primarily work across acute medical wards, but flexibility is key—occasional support may be required in specialties such as Care of the Elderly (CoE) and Surgical services, dependent on service demands.
This role combines clinical and managerial accountability, meaning you will play a crucial role in:
- Implementing person-centred care in a timely manner.
- Supporting hospital flow through collaborative working.
- Managing day-to-day tasks and supervising junior staff within the department.
- Leading formal supervision and annual appraisals.
- Contributing to audits, service developments, and decision-making meetings.
- Exercising excellent organisational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
