Job Opportunity: Band 6 Audiologist or Clinical Scientist (Audiology)
We are looking for a Band 6 Audiologist or Clinical Scientist (Audiology) to join the paediatric audiology service at Oxford University Hospitals as we expand and reconfigure how paediatric audiology services are delivered by the Trust. This is an ideal post for an Audiologist / Clinical Scientist who would like to further develop their paediatric audiology skills. We are delighted to have been rated “Full Assurance” in our ICB/NHS England site visit in spring 2025, and have received funding to further develop our service, including provision of a new paediatric audiology facility at the Horton Hospital in Banbury. We are looking for a forward-thinking and highly motivated individual to join us on our service development journey.
Role Responsibilities
- Assessment and habilitation of children of all ages including those considered non-routine.
- Developmentally appropriate audiological assessments in children of all ages, together with hearing aid fitting and verification.
- Involvement with service development.
- Supervision of colleagues in training including more junior audiologists and those on formal training programmes (e.g. degree apprenticeships and STP).
- A small amount of adult audiology work to support ENT clinics; further adult audiology work is also a possibility for the interested candidate.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
