Specialist Palliative Care Nurse

Job Opportunity: Palliative Care Nurse

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated nurse with a strong passion for palliative care to join our established and dynamic Specialist Palliative Care Team at Dudley Group.

Key considerations for the role:

  • Have you recently undertaken study to deepen your knowledge and skills in this area?
  • Do you have experience in project work, education, working autonomously, and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team? If so, then this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

As a Palliative Care Nurse, you will support patients within the Hospital by:

  • Conducting holistic assessments and reviews of patients with palliative care needs.
  • Delivering specialist palliative care interventions, including:
    • Symptom management
    • Psychological support
  • Providing advice and support to families and staff.
  • Demonstrating excellent communication skills in supporting patients and their families.
  • Acting as a role model for clinical leadership and high standards of compassionate care.

Additionally, you will play a critical role in:

  • Teaching and education, delivering specialist advice and guidance across organisational boundaries.
  • Implementing and embedding key initiatives to enhance palliative and end-of-life care.
  • Ensuring compliance with clinical guidelines and facilitating effective communication between all service providers.
  • Representing nursing views and supporting patient advocacy in multi-professional meetings.

  • Embedding patient and public involvement within practice.
  • Developing patient-focussed education, including self-management training.
  • Actively contributing to patient perspectives in decision-making processes.

Requirements

  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • A strong commitment to palliative and end-of-life care.
  • Ability to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
