Specialist Perinatal Service (SPS) Inpatient Nursery Nurse
The Specialist Perinatal Service (SPS) Inpatient Nursery Nurse will hold a key role in providing expert child assessments, interventions, and acute support for families and infants under one year old, who are under the care of the Inpatient Psychiatric Mother and Baby Unit.
The SPS supports women and birthing people who experience high-risk mental health problems during and after pregnancy, and for their infant up to the age of one year.
This post is based in Andersen at Loweswater Ward. Andersen Ward is based in Wythenshawe, however due to ongoing repairs we are temporarily based at Loweswater Ward at GMMH headquarters in Prestwich.

Key Elements Of This Role Include
- Contributing to structured assessment of parent-infant interaction
- Provide feedback to the MDT based on observations
- Develop and facilitate therapeutic group actives (i.e., baby massage, rhyme, and sign)
- Deliver packages of care in collaboration with families as part of an individualised baby care plan.
- Contributing to and supporting families with targeted interventions.
- Incorporate evidence based practice drawn from the field of both perinatal and more general child care related knowledge into the assessment, planning and implementation of care
You will need to be motivated to work in an environment of change and innovation.
Have a good understanding of the signs of abuse and neglect and a knowledge of safeguarding in line with policies and procedures.
