Specialist Physiotherapist - Brain Injury Rehabilitation

The Role

Takes a lead role for a designated clinical area with a caseload incorporating patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge. Has responsibility for the supervision, education and development of more junior staff, physiotherapy support workers and students within the speciality.

Provides a specialised resource to other healthcare staff/patients/carers.

Has active involvement in Clinical Governance and Clinical Effectiveness and Research.

In This Key Role, You Will

  • Act independently to assess, analyse clinical and non-clinical information and provide highly specialist and comprehensive clinical diagnosis for individual patients to determine their need for physiotherapy intervention. This includes patients with complex presentations
  • Manage an identifiable caseload of patients effectively and efficiently, utilising current literature and research – may be identified as a key worker within the multi-professional team, eg. stroke rehabilitation.
  • Participate in, and lead, within the specialist area, the departmental Personal Development and Planning Review process to promote personal and service development
  • Actively develop, implement and participate in Physiotherapy Department and specialty team in-service training programme to promote own personal development and that of staff

What You'll Bring

  • Registered Physiotherapist with valid HCPC Registration
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
  • Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
