Job Opportunity: Band 6 MRI Radiographer
If you are hardworking, friendly, professional and have patients at the centre of your working practice then this could be the job for you! We are looking for an enthusiastic band 6 MRI radiographer to work within the fantastic MRI team at Lancashire Teaching Hospital Trust.
This dynamic job role will consist of working across 3 different sites, Royal Preston Hospital (RPH), Chorley District Hospital (CDH) and a Community Diagnostic Centre mobile scanner. The MRI department at RPH is a bright and spacious building which provides a suite of 4 scanners including a 3T Siemens Skyra scanner, 2 x 1.5T Philips Ingenia scanners and a soon a Esaote Magnifico 0.7T open scanner. The CDH department houses a new Ingenia Ambition helium free 1.5T scanner.
You will join a welcoming MRI team who have continuously worked hard to receive 7 consecutive GOLD star ratings in recent STAR (Safety triangulation accreditation review) visits.
Responsibilities
- Perform a diverse range of MR examinations for both adult and paediatric patients in outpatient, inpatient and emergency department settings.
- Interact with a number of multi-disciplinary teams, such as the theatre team for patients undergoing MRI under anaesthetic and the pacing team, for patients with a cardiac implantable electronic device undergoing MRI.
- Be a key part of the imaging team, ensuring that our service user's needs are met through the delivery of high-quality care.

Key Duties
- Assist in the provision of an efficient MRI service.
- Work within the MRI team to deliver the best possible care to patients whilst producing optimum quality diagnostic images.
- Be an excellent team player and work alongside other multi-disciplinary teams, communicating effectively to ensure service user satisfaction.
- Have the ability to accept responsibility and make decisions.
- Participate in departmental audits, research projects and quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
- Adhere to the current MHRA guidelines along with local policies and practises to ensure the safety of patients, visitors and staff at all times within the MR department.
- Provide guidance and support to junior members of staff & students.
- Empathise and reassure patients who are worried, anxious or reluctant to undergo the procedure by providing thoughtful and well constructed responses to their questions.
- Participate in an on-call service and extended days.
- Work across all three sites RPH, CDH and CDC covering a seven day service at all venues.
