Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
Speech and Language Therapist – Community Settings
You’ll support people with communication and swallowing needs, helping them live more independently within multi-disciplinary community services.
You’ll join a skilled speech and language therapy team, delivering care across various settings:
- Multi-disciplinary stroke services
- Community clinics
- Home visits
- Specialist outpatient videofluoroscopy
Your work will assist in recovery from illness and management of long-term conditions, making a tangible difference in people’s lives.

What You’ll Do
Role Responsibilities
- Provide adult speech and language therapy in community and clinic settings
- Support individuals with dysphagia and communication needs
- Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams, particularly in stroke services
- Deliver care through:
- Clinics
- Home visits
- Specialist outpatient services
- Develop, contribute to, and refine person-centred care plans for ongoing support

What We’re Looking For
Qualifications & Experience
- A qualified Speech and Language Therapist, or working towards registration
- Interest or experience in managing dysphagia and supporting communication needs
Skills & Attitudes
- Willingness to learn across diverse clinical contexts, including:
- Stroke recovery
- Frailty care
- Neurodegenerative conditions
- Ability to work effectively in teams and adapt to varying clinical environments
- A commitment to continuous professional development, with support from senior colleagues
