Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Speech and Language Therapist – Community Settings

You’ll support people with communication and swallowing needs, helping them live more independently within multi-disciplinary community services.

You’ll join a skilled speech and language therapy team, delivering care across various settings:

  • Multi-disciplinary stroke services
  • Community clinics
  • Home visits
  • Specialist outpatient videofluoroscopy

Your work will assist in recovery from illness and management of long-term conditions, making a tangible difference in people’s lives.

What You’ll Do

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide adult speech and language therapy in community and clinic settings
  • Support individuals with dysphagia and communication needs
  • Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams, particularly in stroke services
  • Deliver care through:
    • Clinics
    • Home visits
    • Specialist outpatient services
  • Develop, contribute to, and refine person-centred care plans for ongoing support

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications & Experience

  • A qualified Speech and Language Therapist, or working towards registration
  • Interest or experience in managing dysphagia and supporting communication needs

Skills & Attitudes

  • Willingness to learn across diverse clinical contexts, including:
    • Stroke recovery
    • Frailty care
    • Neurodegenerative conditions
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and adapt to varying clinical environments
  • A commitment to continuous professional development, with support from senior colleagues
