Job Role

SPECIALIST SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPIST (Children’s Expert Team)
Band 6: £39,959 - £48,117 (pro rata)
22.5 Hours per week
Fixed Term - 6 Months - Possibility of extending
Location - North Kirklees (covering Dewsbury, Batley and Spenborough)

Responsibilities

  • An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the Children’s Community Team as part of the Speech and Language Therapy Service on a temporary contract, working with children with complex needs (Eating Drinking and Swallowing, and Communication).
  • You will work within the Child Development Centre, mainstream schools, special schools, early year’s settings and homes in North Kirklees.
  • You will deliver care to children and young people with eating, drinking and swallowing (EDS) and speech, language and communication needs, providing relevant support and training to families and key colleagues across health, education and social care.
  • A relevant degree in Speech & Language Therapy and experience of having worked with children with EDS and complex SLCN across a range of settings is considered essential.
  • You will work as part of the Children’s Community Team, which includes Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Children’s Community Nursing, alongside a highly supportive team of Speech and Language Therapists.
  • Induction, training, professional development and regular supervision will be available to the successful applicant.
  • This post is subject to a DBS check and you must be able to fulfil the travel requirements of the post.
  • This role is not applicable for sponsorship and candidates must be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK.
