Perinatal Mental Health Midwife – Fixed Term (12-Month) Role

About the Role

Join one of our specialist Maternity teams and deliver safe, evidence-based Maternity care, with a focus on perinatal mental health.

As a Perinatal Mental Health Midwife, you’ll work within our Maternity perinatal mental health team, providing a vital resource for staff while delivering direct clinical care to women and birthing people. This is a fixed-term position (12 months) to cover maternity leave.

The role requires strong collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team.


Key Responsibilities

Professional Duties

  • Fulfil the role of a midwife as defined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, adhering to the Midwives Rules and Code of Practice.
  • Ensure relevant registration remains up to date.

Clinical Support

  • Work within specialist mental health clinics.
  • Assess risk for women with mental health concerns.
  • Conduct screening (including validated screening tools).

  • Take a mental health history, applying the Bio, Psycho, Social approach.
  • Promote reduced discrimination and stigma around mental health.
  • Support staff caring for women in crisis.

Education & Training

  • Facilitate peri-mental health training for maternity and obstetric staff.
  • Attend monthly clinical supervision.
