Specialist Support Trainer – Lifeways Group
Lifeways Group, one of the UK’s largest providers of specialist support services for people with diverse and often complex needs, is on a revolutionary journey to become the Care Provider of Choice. As a Specialist Support Trainer, you will be integral to this transformation, helping to equipping our staff with the skills and knowledge they need to excel.
As a Specialist Trainer, you will be expected to deliver a wide range of specialist learning opportunities, supporting new staff at induction through to refreshing the knowledge and skills of existing staff in areas such as:
- Positive behaviour support
- Physical intervention training (adhering to Restraint Reduction Network Training Standards)
- Person-specific conditions (e.g., Autism, Acquired Brain Injury, Mental Health)

You will work in partnership with operational Practitioners to identify training needs and design relevant solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Motivating and inspiring learners to achieve and develop their knowledge and skills.
- Planning and delivering effective learning activities for diverse groups in a safe and inclusive environment.
- Promoting varied learning approaches tailored to learners’ and organisation’s needs.
- Demonstrating a deep understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and least restrictive practices.
- Supporting learners with specific needs, overcoming barriers, and adapting approaches creatively.
- Encouraging learners to take shared responsibility for their growth, setting challenging personal goals.
- Providing constructive, timely feedback to learners and Operational Managers.
Essential Experience, Skills & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- 2 years’ continuous employment in a support or care role within healthcare, social care, or education.
- Awareness of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) principles, theoretical approaches, and effective implementation strategies.
- Experience in delivering training solutions, coaching, facilitating, or teaching in a social care or education environment.
- A positive, resilient, and dynamic approach with excellent training delivery and presentation skills.

Lifeways is committed to your growth as a Specialist Trainer. We support candidates meeting the minimum criteria towards:
- Training the Trainer programmes in Physical Intervention Systems (e.g., NAPPI, PROACT-SCIPr-UK®).
- Accredited training qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Award in Education and Training - QCF equivalent).
- Immediate Life Support certification (via current Emergency First Aid at Work, or willingness to achieve this promptly).

- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with professionalism.
Note: All essential criteria must be met for shortlisting. Applicants are required to evidence these in their application. Shortlisting will be based on the criteria detailed above.
