Ambitious College is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team of Specialist Teaching Assistants!


About Ambitious College

Ambitious College is an independent specialist day college committed to empowering autistic young people aged 16–25. Our unique educational model centres on personalisation, providing:

  • A highly tailored curriculum
  • Unwavering 1:1 support
  • Real-world skills to enhance independence and community integration

As part of the College of West Thames (CWT) campuses in:

  • West London
  • Haringey
  • Enfield
  • North East London (CONEL)

We partner with local businesses, community groups, and mainstream colleges to offer meaningful work placements, giving learners hands-on experience in diverse environments.


Key Responsibilities

As a Specialist Teaching Assistant at Ambitious College, you will:

  • Provide academic support and 1:1 assistance to autistic young people to help them achieve their individual goals
  • Collaborate with teaching teams to create inclusive, personalised learning plans
  • Facilitate real-world work placements and community engagement opportunities
  • Foster confidence, skills and independence in juveniles through structured, supportive learning
  • Contribute to a positive and empowering learning environment that values autistic voices and needs

Person Specification & Requirements

  • A passion for inclusive education and whole-person growth
  • Patience, adaptability and emotional resilience to support diverse learners
  • Experience (or demonstrated interest) in working with autistic individuals, especially in an educational setting
  • Commitment to personalisation, focusing on each learner’s strengths and challenges
  • Strong 1:1 support skills, enthusiasm for community integration, and teamwork

Employer Expectations

  • Working pattern: 35 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 41 weeks a year), with 52-week paid employment
  • Entrance requirements: Enhanced DBS check and commitment to safeguarding procedures
  • Post approval: Exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (량을 in mind)
  • The Ethnic Safer Recruitment guidance is applied to help ensure a fair and safeguarding-focused hiring process
