About the Role
The core purpose of this position is to work as a member of the Specialist Technical Support Team, providing technical expertise and local supervision of colleagues where required. You will contribute to delivering an efficient and effective customer service, ensuring a high-quality end-to-end ICT service for West Mercia Police.
Your primary responsibility is to provide a high-level technical support across the force, both internally and externally. This includes maintaining the best possible ICT services, specialist applications, and equipment to support operational functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver technical support, troubleshooting, and problem resolution for ICT services.
- Ensure smooth operation of networking, telephony, firewalls, and remote access solutions.
- Supervise technical roleplay within the team to maintain service quality.
- Work as part of a collaborative team to improve and support operational IT infrastructure.
- Advise on technical best practices and enhance service delivery.
Essential Criteria
- CCNA Certification
- In-depth knowledge of:
- Routing & Switching
- Enterprise Firewalls
- Telephony
- VPN
- Load Balancing
- Remote Access Solutions
- Strong Security Awareness expertise.

Role Description Details
This is a hybrid role, blending home and office working to achieve an optimal balance for task completion and team collaboration.

Vetting Requirement: Candidates must have been a permanent resident in the UK for the past 5 years at the time of application, as this post requires vetting clearance.

- An initial virtual interview (via Microsoft Teams) to assess suitability based on your experience and CV.
- (If successful) a follow-up face-to-face interview, giving you the opportunity to learn more about the team and role.

The salary includes a 5% market supplement, reviewed annually on the 1st April (next review: 1st April 2027).
