How You Will Make An Impact
As a Specialist in our Underwriting Operations Team in Commercial property, you will be responsible for providing efficient and high-quality support to the UK Underwriting and Operations Teams. You will support the end-to-end underwriting/operations process through regular liaison with other functions to ensure the highest quality of service is delivered to our brokers and clients.
This is a fantastic role for someone with good general insurance knowledge who wants to progress their career in operations supporting underwriting. You will be given comprehensive training and the opportunity to complete insurance qualifications.
Some Of The Key Responsibilities Include
- Work with UW managers to support the lifecycle of the portfolio
- Efficiently and accurately ensure all new business and renewal accounts are processed and tracked.
- Proactive engagement with Underwriting to ensure new and renewed accounts have an efficient and smooth account hand over, ensuring information received is understood and complete in order to process / instruct policies on systems and to the network.
- Liaise with Underwriters to ensure correct interpretation of data for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain documentation and files, ensuring all documentation is retained centrally.
- Accountable for (RI) premium, (RI) commission and tax bookings in processing systems
- Track implementation progress and liaise with our global network to resolve queries.
- Liaise with the Credit Control team - answering queries, tracking, and monitoring premium using core underwriting systems.
- Manage requests originating from clients and brokers, and refer to Underwriting as required.
- Regular interaction with our off-shore team – leading huddles, auditing work, quality control, supporting query resolution
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Develop expert level knowledge with regards to systems, and processes and keep abreast of new guidelines published.
- Act as reference point for others in the team when questions come up and/or uncertainties exist.
- Support project work to ensure that existing processes meet requirements.

What You’ll Need To Succeed
- Minimum A-level standard of education or equivalent business experience
- General insurance knowledge
- Knowledge of operations processes that underpin underwriting with regards to the following areas:
- Submission/ Quotes
- Risk specifics, basic pricing principles
- Reinsurance concepts (FAC RI, Captive, Treaties etc.)
- Domestic market specifics and customs
- Knowledge of premium allocation principles, (European) cross-border tax calculation & processing specifics as well as insurance accounting principles
- Strong organisation skills with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
- Collaborative with the ability to build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong problem solving skills
- Attention to detail
- Strong IT skills - experience of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams and Power BI would be advantageous
