Job Opportunity: SAS Doctor in Home Treatment Team
Overview
Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to make a part-time appointment for a SAS doctor to work in the well-established Home Treatment Team in Stockport. This is a 0.8 WTE post.
Role Responsibilities
- The post-holder will be based with the rest of the team and provide middle grade medical input to the team.
- This role is led by a 0.8 Less than full-time consultant psychiatrist who offers clinical support and advice to all practitioners around medical treatment, formulation of cases, and developing appropriate treatment plans.
- The post-holder will provide clinical and managerial supervision to the successful applicant.
Team Description
- The Home Treatment Team is an integral part of Adult Acute mental health services within Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust.
- The team offers intensive community-based support to those service users who are experiencing an acute episode of mental ill health as an alternative to admission to an inpatient bed.
- The team also provides intensive support to service users who are leaving a hospital bed as part of an individual’s discharge pathway.
- Where admission is unavoidable, the team facilitates discharge at the earliest opportunity. This may involve planned supported leave prior to discharge.

Key Functions
- Provide high intensity treatment and crisis management away from an inpatient setting.
- Offer a supported discharge pathway and provide discharge follow-up for individuals who are not going to receive longer-term support from mental health services.
Service Details
- The service works with patients aged 18 years to 65 years (can be older if under GA services).
- The post-holder will work closely with other team consultants inside and out of the area.
- There are close working relationships with the Liaison Mental Health Services, GA Wards, CMHT, OPD Psychiatry, EIT, Living Well Team in the Stockport Team.
Expectations
- The post holder will be expected to offer a senior level of support for the team with the consultant in HTT and close working with the other members of the medical team and nursing staff/support workers.
