Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic Emergency Physician to join our team in Wrexham to cover a period of maternity leave on a fixed term basis. Given that this is a short-term fixed term appointment, it would be advantageous for the applicant to have experience of working in a UK NHS Emergency Department in order to maximise the ability to robustly integrate into working at a senior level in this busy Emergency Department.

We also have Emergency Nurse, Cardiac Nurse, and Physiotherapy Practitioners working in the department and an excellent 24 hour Psychiatric Liaison service. We provide a senior led service for adults and children including major trauma as a Trauma Unit, our designated Trauma Centre being more than 45 minutes away. I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
