Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine

Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine (5 PAs per week)

Location: East Surrey, North-East West Sussex, South Croydon Contract: 12-month fixed-term, 5-day paid韄 contract (individualised job plan)


About the Role

Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting Specialty Doctors (ST4+ and above) to join their busy Emergency Medicine team.

This position offers:

  • A 5-day paid韄 (PA = paid Sựrenal) contract with a fixed-term commitment.
  • Opportunities in medical staff training, including:
    • Undergraduate Medical students
    • Physician Associate (PA) students
    • 14 trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners
  • Development of ultrasound (FAST) scanning under accredited consultants.
  • Involvement in departmental innovation & rapid improvement to enhance patient care.
  • Potential for higher training progression, including CCT/CESR application for successful candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively across a multidisciplinary team, including ED, mental health, pre-hospital, and community colleagues.
  • Maintain up-to-date resuscitation skills (ALS recommended; ATLS/ETC non-mandatory but advantageous—support provided for certification if needed).

Requirements & Advantageous Qualities

  • Speciality registration in Emergency Medicine (ST4+ required).
  • Interest in teaching and training junior colleagues.
  • Experience in ** bedside ultrasound** (FAST scanning) highly desirable.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
