Specialty Doctor in ENT

Job Overview

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.

Job Title: Specialty Doctor

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Type: Permanent

Please see below for detailed job description of the role.

Main duties of the job

The Ears, Nose and Throat (ENT) team are looking to appoint a specialty doctor to join our Head and Neck Cancer Service. This is a permanent position starting as soon as possible. We are looking for a passionate and dynamic individual looking to expand their skills and knowledge in Head and Neck ENT surgery.

The ENT department is based at University Hospital Southampton (UHS) and includes satellite clinics at the Royal South Hants Hospital in Southampton. You'll work in a multidisciplinary team including close links to our maxillofacial and clinical/medical oncology colleagues. There are 4 full time surgeons and one MIT fellow who make up the head and neck ENT surgical team.

Working for our organisation

As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to. UHS is rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey, we were in the top 10 acute trusts for staff engagement and for staff recommending the hospital as a place to work or receive care.

We support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service. UHS employees are able to access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.

Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and direct trains to London. The New Forest National Park and beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 20% lower than London and 14 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
