About the Role
As a Senior Employee of the Health Board, the Post Holder will work in close co-operation with, and support other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Health Board’s patients. The Post Holder will:
- Be responsible for the assessment and management of patients.
- Be expected to remain closely involved with the care of patients.
- Provide effective clinical leadership and fully participate in the multidisciplinary team as appropriate.
- Act as an independent expert decision maker.
- Take part in an emergency rota if required which covers 24hrs.
- To manage the service in/out of hours as required.
- Maintain a high standard of note-keeping.
- Communicate with other staff to ensure effective patient care.
- Promote evidence-based clinical practice.
- Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and carers, placing them at the centre of the care pathway.
- Manage patients with complex needs.
- Participate in the development of teaching, training and research within the organisation.
- Actively participate in regular audit and research meetings and postgraduate teaching sessions held by the appropriate department.
- Contribute senior clinical input to the modernisation, development and ongoing operational management of Ophthalmology and specialist area.
