Entry Criteria For a Specialty Doctor
An applicant appointed to this grade:
- shall be fully registered with the General Dental Council (GDC);
- shall have completed four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a less than full-time or flexible basis) since first obtaining registration, including adequate experience in the relevant specialty;
- shall have equivalent training, experience or competencies, either in the UK or overseas.

Applications are welcome for the above Full time (40 hours per week) post based in Edinburgh Dental Institute at the Lauriston Building.

We are seeking a full time Specialty Doctor for Oral Medicine to fill a total of 10 sessions available within the Edinburgh Dental Institute.
This Specialty Doctor post offers an opportunity for the appointee to contribute to the delivery of a tiered, consultant-led Oral Medicine service at the Edinburgh Dental Institute (EDI). They will work 10 PAs Monday to Friday, with their job plan agreed with the Clinical Director and Professional Lead for Oral Medicine.
The post holder will be responsible to Ms Lorraine Canning, Clinical Services Manager and Oral Medicine Professional Lead Dr William Harrison and will work with colleagues within Oral Medicine and the wider Dental Institute.
Appropriately experienced applicants must have full registration with the General Dental Council, and have completed at least 4 years full-time postgraduate training with demonstrable experience of supporting patients in Oral Medicine. The post start date can be flexible.
