About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Urology at Leicester General Hospital as a Specialty Doctor. The post is designed to offer a flexible and supportive working environment, with a combination of fixed clinical sessions alongside the opportunity to contribute to service delivery through cross-cover of colleagues’ sessions.
The successful candidate will participate in the Urology on-call rota (1:9), providing support for adult emergency urological care across the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. The on-call service is structured to ensure robust consultant support, enabling the delivery of safe, high-quality care for patients presenting with acute urological conditions.
You will work closely with the on-call consultant and the wider multidisciplinary team, playing a key role in maintaining high clinical standards, patient safety, and effective service delivery across the pathway.
Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This is a 12-month fixed-term post, offering an excellent opportunity to develop clinical experience within a busy and progressive urology service.
The appointee would be expected to perform the duties as laid down in the job plan which will consist of 8 clinical sessions, 1 administration & 1 educational session. The timetable will be totally flexible and the successful candidate may be asked, at short notice, to perform a different duty, e.g. theatre session instead of a clinic, when service needs dictate.
