This role involves actively participating in urological service delivery within a multi-disciplinary team and is designed for:
- Post-core surgical trainees seeking firsthand experience in urology and research.
- Aspiring specialists poised for run-through training.
Research opportunities and support for postgraduate study will be provided.
The department offers:
- A specialised Urology Diagnostic Unit
- A 6-bedded ward
- An Endoscopy Suite
- Dedicated clinic rooms

Core Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be based at Glan Clwyd Hospital. Key tasks include:
- Active involvement in urological clinical services
- Leading projects beneficial to patient care and service improvement
- Potential research work and postgraduate degree supervision (for interested candidates)
Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborating in award-related projects, including:
- Surgical and non-surgical urologic interventions
- Tumour management
- Laparoscopy, robotic surgery, and diagnostic endoscopy
- Attendance at departmental, regional, and national meetings
- Participation in related services to ensure high-quality patient and staff collaboration
- Assisting in trainee education (including undergraduate and postgraduate sessions)
Detailed Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential:
- Full GMC registration
- MRCS degree (or equivalent)
Desirable:
- Recent certifications such as:
- ALS
- ATLS
- APLS
- A postgraduate degree (MSc or MD)
Experience
Essential:
- Minimum 3 years’ surgical experience (excluding foundation years) — including:
- At least 12 months’ exposure in Urology.
Equivalent experience (e.g., trauma/gen surgery, relief doctors) will be considered.

Desirable:
- Hands-on diagnostic Urology skills:
- Prostate biopsies
- Flexible/cystoscopy experience

- Regular attendance at department audit discussions/meetings
- Basic computer proficiency, including:
- Experience working with MS Windows and MS Office.
