BCUHB is the largest health organisation in Wales, providing a full range of primary, community, mental health, and acute hospital services for a population of around 676,000 people across the six counties of North Wales (Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, and Wrexham) as well as parts of mid Wales, Cheshire, and Shropshire.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialty Doctor in Urology at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, based at Glan Clwyd Hospital.
Role Overview
The post holder would actively contribute to the provision of urological services within a multi-disciplinary team. This role is also suitable for post-core surgical trainees, allowing them to gain additional urology and research experience before applying for run-through specialist training. Active research and supervision for postgraduate degrees will be encouraged for interested candidates.

The Department of Urology at Glan Clwyd Hospital features:
- A dedicated, purpose-built Urology Diagnostic Unit
- A 6-beddded ward
- An Endoscopy Suite
- Clinic rooms
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post, and Welsh and English speakers are equally encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

Essential Criteria
- Full GMC registration
- MRCS or equivalent degree

Desirable Criteria
- Recent certifications in ALS, ATLS and APLS
- Postgraduate degree (MSc or MD)

Experience

Essential Criteria
- Minimum 3 years' experience in Surgery, excluding foundation years, with at least 12 months in Urology
- Equivalent experience and competencies

Desirable Criteria
- Diagnostic Urological Skills, e.g., prostate biopsy and flexible cystoscopy

- Good communication skills
- Strong teamwork ability
- Flexible attitude and adaptability
- Commitment to keeping up-to-date with current developments
- Willingness to train, learn and develop

- Enthusiasm for teaching juniors and medical students

- Evidence of participation in Audit
- Demonstrated research interest

Other Requirements
