Job Overview

BCUHB is the largest health organisation in Wales, providing a full range of primary, community, mental health and acute hospital services for a population of around 676,000 people across the six counties of North Wales (Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham) as well as some parts of mid Wales, Cheshire and Shropshire. Main duties of the job

Specialty Doctor in Urology – SpR Level

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialty Doctor in Urology at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board based at Glan Clwyd Hospital.

The post holder would be actively involved in the provision of urological services within a multi-disciplinary team. The post is also suitable for post core surgical trainee candidates looking to gain additional urology and research experience prior to applying for run-through specialist training. Active research and supervision for postgraduate degree would be encouraged for interested candidates.

  • Department of Urology at Glan Clwyd has a dedicated, purpose built Urology Diagnostic unit with 6 bedded ward, Endoscopy suite and clinic rooms.
  • The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Full GMC registration
  • MRCS or equivalent degree

Desirable criteria

  • Recent ALS, ATLS, APLS certification
  • Postgraduate degree - MSc or MD

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in Surgery excluding foundation years with at least 12 months in Urology
  • Equivalent experience and competencies

Desirable criteria

  • Diagnostic Urological skills e.g. prostate biopsy and flexible cystoscopy

Personal Qualities
