Role Overview

Reports to: Senior Specification Engineer

As a Specification Engineer, you’ll provide technical support and CAD assistance to engineering teams, contractors, and stakeholders across Infrastructure Products Europe. Your role involves promoting IPE products, ensuring specifications align with client goals (sustainability, design accuracy, constructability, and speed). Responsibilities include:

Core Responsibilities:

  • Promote and secure specifications for Cubis Systems products with consulting engineers, designers, local governments, utilities, and contractors.
  • Deliver technical guidance on product selection, compliance, and suitability for infrastructure applications.
  • Design detailed buried cable routes and utility models (using AutoCAD).
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and contractors to optimise designs.
  • Conduct structural and load analyses to ensure suitability and compliance.
  • Develop precise material schedules from engineering drawings.
  • Offer technical and product support to IPE commercial teams across project timelines.
  • Expand and maintain the IPE BIM and Digital Construction Library on various platforms.
  • Improve CAD adoption to enhance industry product visibility.
  • Support technical managers in refining the company’s sustainability offerings.
  • Compile monthly technical project updates for commercial teams.
  • Strengthen expertise in civil engineering concepts, ground conditions, and design standards, including Eurocodes.
  • Support product development, specifications, and literature.
  • Develop installation guides and specifications for IPE products.
  • Enforce asset control (tracking versions and accessibility to engineering).
  • Guide customers and internal teams on install standards and best practices.
  • Champion value engineering while maintaining safety, quality, and durability.
  • Build relationships with external partners including engineers, constructors, and clients.
  • Act as the technical point of contact from concept to project completion.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Commercial, Operations, and Technical & Innovation teams for project success.

Qualifications & Experience

You’ll bring:

  • Civil Engineering qualification (HNC, HND, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 1 year of civil engineering design experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, with Revit/Civil 3D advantageous.
  • Hands-on experience in underground utility design and specification.
  • Knowledge of Eurocodes and structural standards.
  • Problem-solving aptitude, analytical skills, and commercial awareness.
  • Exceptional communication skills (oral and written).
  • Multitasking ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Collaborative mindset and proactivity.
  • Rigorous attention to detail and accuracy.
