Role Overview

The Specification Engineer will provide technical and CAD support to Engineering Consultants, Contractors, and Asset Owners for all Infrastructure Products Europe (IPE) businesses. The role focuses on utilising IPE products to:

  • Optimise and improve designs in line with client needs.
  • Enhance sustainability, design assurance, buildability, and speed.

Successful candidates will carry out the following key responsibilities:


What Our ‘Specification Engineer’ Will Be Doing

  • Promote & Secure Specifications

    • Secure use of Cubis Systems products with consulting engineers, designers, local authorities, utilities, and contractors.
    • Provide technical guidance on product selection, compliance, and suitability for infrastructure applications.
  • Design & Engineering Outputs

    • Prepare and create detailed AutoCAD designs of buried cable routes and utilities.
    • Collaborate with design engineers and contractors to refine and optimise designs using IPE product solutions.
    • Carry out structural and load calculations to assess suitability and compliance of IPE products.
    • Produce accurate material schedules from engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Technical & Product Support

    • Offer technical & product support to IPE Commercial teams through the entire project lifecycle.
    • Maintain and expand the IPE BIM and Digital Construction Library across relevant platforms.
    • Engage with CAD platforms to ensure IPE products are visible and recognised by industry designers.
  • Sustainability & Digital Assets

    • Support Technical Managers in developing the company’s sustainability offering.
    • Maintain strict control over digital assets (version management and accessibility for engineering/commercial teams).
  • Reports & Knowledge Sharing

    • Prepare and submit monthly technical activity and project reports to the Commercial Department.
    • Develop and apply knowledge of civil engineering principles, ground conditions, and design rules.
    • Assist with new product development, technical specifications, and supporting literature.
    • Produce clear installation guides and specification documents.

  • Advisory & Stakeholder Engagement

    • Advise customers and internal stakeholders on installation requirements and industry best practices.
    • Support value engineering while maintaining performance, safety, and quality standards.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with consulting engineers, designers, contractors, and end clients.
    • Act as the technical point of contact throughout the project lifecycle (concept though delivery).
  • Collaborative Support

    • Work closely with Sales, Commercial, Operations, and Technical & Innovation teams to support project success.

The Experience Our ‘Specification Engineer’ Will Have

  • Qualifications:

    • Civil Engineering HNC/HND or equivalent qualification.
  • Technical Proficiency:

    • Minimum 1 year of experience in a civil engineering design environment.
    • Expertise in Autodesk AutoCAD (preferably Revit and/or Civil 3D).
    • Experience in designing and specifying underground utilities and services for civil engineering projects.
    • Knowledge of Structural Engineering Standards (Eurocodes).
  • Soft Skills & Competencies:

    • Strong technical and problem-solving ability.
    • A commercial awareness with a customer-focused mindset.
    • Clear, confident written and verbal communication.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
    • Collaborative, proactive attitude.
    • High standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
