Role Overview: Specification Engineer (Entry Level Role)

As a Specification Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in delivering technical excellence and CAD support for Infrastructure Products Europe’s global projects. Your mandate:

Promote, design, and optimise IPE products to meet client needs—prioritising sustainability, design assurance, buildability, and speed. The role spans technical guidance, CAD expertise, and stakeholder collaboration to advance our mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote Cubis Systems product specifications to external stakeholders:
    • Consulting engineers
    • Designers
    • Local authorities
    • Utilities and contractors

  • Provide technical guidance on product selection, ensuring compliance with application requirements.

  • Design and draft buried cable route and utility layouts using AutoCAD (or relevant CAD platforms), incorporating IPE solutions for optimal efficiency and feasibility.

  • Collaborate with design engineers and contractors to iterate designs, maintaining alignment with IPE product guidelines.

  • Conduct structural and load assessments to validate product suitability and compliance (Eurocodes).

  • Develop accurate material schedules from engineering drawings and bespoke specifications.

  • Support the IPE Commercial team throughout the project lifecycle, from proposal to delivery.

  • Maintain and upscale IPE’s digital asset library (BIM/Digital Construction) to stay at the forefront of industry.

  • Ensure IPE’s CAD visibility in industry-standard platforms, broadening design recognition.

  • Drive sustainability improvements under Technical Managers’ oversight—aligning offerings with ESG objectives.

  • Compile monthly technical project reports for pathways to operational and commercial insights.

  • Apply civil engineering principles (ground conditions, load calculations, design standards) to generate cutting-edge solutions.

  • Assist with new product technical specs, technical literature, and client-facing documentation.

  • Develop installation guides and specification standards for streamlined project execution.

  • Manage version control and accessibility of digital assets across technical and commercial departments.

  • Lead value engineering initiatives while retaining performance, safety, and quality benchmarks.

  • Strengthen relationships with clients, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders from project inception to handover.

  • Ensure integration with Sales, Commercial, Operational, and Technical teams—bridging engineering insights with commercial success.


What You’ll Bring to the Role

Education & Experience

  • Α Civil/Structural Engineering HNC/HND or equivalent technical qualification.
  • A minimum of 1 year’s working experience in a civil/engineering design environment—practical, hands-on exposure to utility and infrastructure projects preferred.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD, with familiarity or ability to adapt to Revit, Civil 3D, or similar platforms.
  • Proven experience in designing and specifying underground utilities, services, tunnels, or conveyance infrastructure within engineering frameworks.

Technical & Soft Skills

  • Strong understanding of:

    • Eurocodes and structural engineering standards.
    • Civil calculations (loads, stability, ground conditions).
  • Exceptional technical problem-solving skills with a bias for cost-effective and innovative solutions.

  • Customer-facing acumen—experience working within sales-driven or assistance roles is advantageous.
