MacGregor Black are partnering with a leading food manufacturing business to recruit a Specification Technologist to join their Technical team.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a fast-paced, customer-focused environment, supporting the delivery of high-quality products to major UK retailers.
Working closely with Technical, NPD, Procurement, and Operations, your responsibilities will include:
- Creating and maintaining accurate Raw Material and finished product specifications
- Ensuring compliance with customer requirements and UK food legislation
- Supporting successful product launches

Key Responsibilities
- Create, review, and maintain raw material and finished product specifications
- Manage retailer specification portals, ensuring all information is accurate and submitted on time
- Review and approve packaging artwork and pack copy in line with:
- UK food labelling legislation
- Customer Codes of Practice
- Support new product development (NPD) and product launches, collaborating cross-functionally to meet critical project deadlines
- Guarantee compliance with:
- Food legislation
- Allergen requirements
- Nutritional declarations
- Customer standards
- Liaise with suppliers to obtain and validate technical data and documentation
- Facilitate internal, customer, and third-party audits, maintaining up-to-date technical documentation
- Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers to ensure right-first-time specifications

What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in a Specification Technologist or Specification Coordinator role within food manufacturing
- Deep knowledge of UK food labelling legislation and retailer Codes of Practice
- Hands-on experience with retailer specification systems (e.g., Hamilton Grant, Foods Connected, SpecSafe or similar)
- Track record of reviewing packaging artwork and approving pack copy
- Excellent attention to detail, paired with strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while managing multiple priorities
